Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, Singer/Actress
D.O.B.: 08/27/1971 (Pisces)
|
|
Mother: African-American, Native American
Father:
Arab, East Indian |
|
On her
mixed background:
"When you look different it is a big deal,
all the girls wanted to beat me up, pull my hair," she told
People.com. "A lot of people would wonder what I was mixed with, and
I never knew because I didn't know my dad."
Interesting fact:
Chilli's father was a soldier at Fort
Benning in Columbus, Ga. who left town after a brief affair with her
mother, Ava, not knowing she was pregnant. A producer for the Sally
Jessy Raphael Show helped track down her father, and it was then
that Chilli
discovered that he is part-Arabic, part-East Indian heritage. After
meeting her father, Chili said she could look at the mirror now and
feel "complete."

RASHIDA JONES,
Actress/Model/Musician
D.O.B.:02/25/76 (Pisces) |
|
Mother: Jewish, Irish, Russian
Father:
African-American |
|
On
her mixed
background: "I'm
back to that place where I'm like, 'You know what? I'm black, I'm
white, I'm Jewish, I'm Irish, I'm Portuguese, I'm Welsh, what the
f**k ever.' To me it's so inconsequential," she told
theinsider.com. "People still say things to me like, 'Oh my god,
you're black? I would've never guessed that.' And I just think, I
can't help your ignorance. There are bi-racial people who look like
me or who look like Alicia Keys or who look like Halle Berry. I'm so
proud to be so many things."
Jones is best known for her portrayal of Louisa Fenn on Boston
Public, Karen Filippelli on The Office and Kate Frankola
on Unhitched.
Interesting
fact: She
is the youngest daughter of media mogul Quincy Jones with his former
wife, actress Peggy Lipton.

BORIS
KODJOE, Actor/Model
D.O.B.:3/8/73 (Pisces) |
|
Mother: German
Father:
Black, Ghanian |
|
On
his
mixed background:
"Me and my brother were always the only black kids," he
said about his experience growing up in Germany. "Racism
is universal, but it's very different in different
cultures. Where I grew up, racism was more about
ignorance and a lack of knowledge than a controlled and
focused prejudice. So, I was subjected to the type of
racism where people called me names, but I had a lot of
great friends, too.
"Overall,
it was a great environment to grow up in. The place I
was raised was in the Black Forest and looks like The
Sound of Music. We had a great childhood, full of fun
and outdoor adventure. It was very sane and
well-rounded. My mother always told us we were perfect
the way we were, and that we wouldn't have to worry
about what people said because there are just a lot of
ignoramuses in the world, and that you will encounter
them until the day you die. That was her approach, and
now when I look back, I can really appreciate it."
Interesting fact:
-
His full name is Boris Frederic
Cecil Tay-Natey Ofuatey-Kodjoe
-
Fluent in English, French and
German. He can also speak some Spanish.
-
Daughter, Sophie, was born with
spina bifida.
